Between rapid catchiness and elegantly inconsistent total denial, the band Half Darling operates several levers of pop history: Punk, Noise, Hip Hop, Lovesong and Steve Reich! Through numerous musical references, selective connections are made that add up to an independent, irritating and thoroughly feminist aesthetic.

The songs on their first, self-titled album are carried by a high energy level, with the band focusing on minimalist structures, rhythmic shifts, irritation and the intensity of repetition. Together, Half Darling produce musical gems that put loops, beats, riot and pop-affine hook lines in relationships that drive the fully loaded cart into the wall at every turn - simply because the impact sounds so beautiful.

The music was composed by Gregor Mahnert using loop machines, guitars and drums and arranged and realized with Half Darling. The lyrics and vocals to the songs were written by Lisa Kortschak and Mahnert. The tracks were recorded and mixed by Werner Thenmayer and mastered by Dino Spiluttini.

Zwischen rasanter Eingängigkeit und elegant inkonsequenter Totalverweigerung bedient die Band Half Darling mehrere Hebel der Popgeschichte: Punk, Noise, Hip Hop, Lovesong und Steve Reich! Durch zahlreiche musikalische Verweise werden punktuell Bezüge hergestellt, die in Summe eine eigenständige, teils irritierende und durchwegs feministisch geprägte Ästhetik ergeben.

Die Songs auf ihrem ersten Album werden von einem hohen Energielevel getragen, wobei die Band den Schwerpunkt auf minimalistische Strukturen, rhythmische Verschiebungen, stilistische Vielschichtigkeit und die Intensität der Wiederholung legt. Gemeinsam produzieren Half Darling musikalische Kleinode, die Loops, Beats, Riot und pop-affine Hooklines in Spannungsverhältnisse setzen, die den voll beladenen Karren in jeder Kurve an die Wand fahren – einfach weil der Aufprall so schön klingt!

Die Musik wurde von Gregor Mahnert mittels Einsatz von Loopmaschinen, Gitarren und Drums komponiert und mit Half Darling arrangiert und umgesetzt. Die Lyrics und der Gesang zu den Songs stammen von Lisa Kortschak und Mahnert. Aufgenommen und gemischt wurden die Tracks von Werner Thenmayer, gemastert von Dino Spiluttini.
