Propella

Propella means: hitting the riff full steam ahead. The creaky dance engine starts off with a well placed kick in the gut. "Turn It On" - outright, intense, offhanded. Singer/guitar player Babl Raketa´s Rock´n´Roll of total exhaustion has unsettled audiences since her first band Pantskirt appeared on stage. Nadine Abado (vocals/bass guitar) and Heike Mangold (drums) add some surprising ease to the wild driving rawness of Propella´s music.

"I put my dancing shoes on and I dance" - Propella transform the battle cry of the Disco years into a feast of razor-sharp guitar mayhem that accompanies the cats fighting on a hot tin roof.

"Swim on the top of the wave before it breaks" - this should be heard as an instruction: take no time for compromise! We´re going all the way!

Propella oder: In voller Fahrt aufs Riff knallen. Mit einem gut platzierten Tritt in die Magengrube springt die knarrende Tanzmaschine gleich beim Titelsong “Turn It On” an. Intensiv, unverblümt, spontan – Sängerin/Gitarristin Babl Raketa verstörte schon mit ihrer Band Pantskirt das Publikum mit ihrem Rock’n’Roll der völligen Verausgabung. Da spürt der Zuhörer den rotzig-trotzigen Atem Polly Jean Harveys im Nacken. Bei Propella fügen Nadine Abado (Gesang/ Bass) und Heike Mangold am großartig verschleppten Schlagzeug dem Ganzen eine fette Dosis an Lässigkeit und hinterfotziger Entspannung hinzu.

“I put my dancing shoes on and I dance” – aus der gefährlichen Kampfansage der Generation Disco schnitzen Propella im Song Dance mit schartigen und gleichzeitig messerscharfen Gitarren die heimtückische Eleganz eines Schlagabtauschs von räudigen Katzen auf dem heißen Blechdach.

“Swim on the top of the wave before it breaks” – eine Songzeile als Gebrauchsanweisung. Keine Zeit für Kompromisse, viel Zeit für glänzende Schnappschüsse. Stimmen schieben sich aus dem Hintergrund nach vorne, hebeln gekonnt das gekannte Soundgefüge aus, schrauben sich ins Ohr und fluten wieder zurück. “Turn It On” ist nicht einfach nur eine lässige Platte. “Turn It On” ist der Beweis, dass Zerrissenheit als Fahrplan eine runde Sache ist.
